project overview

project overview

Despite the surge in event-hosting platforms, existing apps primarily focus on large-scale events and often lack personalization and accessibility for smaller, local events. Hosts struggle to promote smaller events, while potential attendees face challenges discovering unique, local activities. Our goal was to create an app that would allow individuals to easily create, promote, and manage events while enabling users to find tailored, high-quality experiences within their communities. Business Goals: 1. Increase the number of event listings and bookings on the platform. 2. Enhance user retention by building a strong community of hosts and guests. 3. Generate revenue through service fees on bookings. User Goals: 1. Allow hosts to easily set up and promote events. 2. Enable guests to find relevant and interesting local events. 3. Provide a secure, trustworthy platform for both hosts and guests.

User Interviews: Objective: To understand the needs, pain points, and motivations of both potential hosts and guests. Method: Conducted in-depth interviews with 15 potential users (8 potential hosts and 7 potential guests). Insights: 1. Hosts wanted simple tools to create and promote events without excessive setup. 2. Guests desired clear discovery options for events that align with their interests, location, and budget. 3. Both groups expressed concerns about security, trustworthiness, and transparent review systems.

solution

solution

1. User Flow Design: • Designed a common profile that allows users to show their host side and guest side. • Created distinct paths for creating events (for hosts) and discovering events (for guests), focusing on a personalized user experience for both. 2. Core Features: • Event Creation and Management: Hosts can easily create an event with options for setting location, ticketing, and capacity. A dashboard helps them track RSVPs, manage attendance, and communicate with guests. • Event Discovery and Booking: Guests can browse and search events based on location, category, popularity, and availability. Personalized recommendations appear based on user interests and previous interactions. • Review and Rating System: Guests can leave reviews after attending an event, and hosts can rate attendees to ensure community reliability. • Safety and Trust Features: ID verification, secure payment processing, and in-app messaging allow safe and private interactions. 3. Host Payouts: • Only after an event has taken place, the payout option becomes available for the host so that they can see all payout details like total tickets sold, total revenue, eventora's commission.

4. Design Approach: • Created wireframes and prototypes, focusing on a clean, minimalistic interface that emphasized discoverability and ease of use. • Conducted user testing with prototypes to gather feedback on usability, navigation, and overall user experience.

conclusion

conclusion

As the app approaches its launch, there is immense potential to disrupt the event-hosting space by filling the gap for smaller, localized experiences that are both accessible and diverse. While the initial designs and user testing have received positive feedback, the true test will be in the hands of real users post-launch. Future efforts will focus on gathering user insights, iterating on features, and scaling the platform to ensure long-term success and value for all stakeholders. This project exemplifies how thoughtful design, combined with a clear vision, can create a product ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of its users.
